Our shop started to get a lot of phone-in orders due to the pandemic, and at the time our payment processor kept tacking on lots of fees for “manually keyed in” sales. We weren't warned and didn’t notice until months later when our bill started to skyrocket. Other times when the terminals were being fussy and the only “customer service” we were able to get was an email stating to “unplug then reboot and try again” we started to just get customers' information over the phone and write it down which was also an unacceptable solution.
Then we looked into Stripe, it seemed like they were an innovative company with cool new terminals and stuff but luckily I shopped around a bit and talked to friends who showed me their old Stripe bills, yikes, that flat charge isn't all it’s cracked up to be, it really adds up!
